The Human Element Is Missing In Web3.

This week’s op-ed is written by Cre8or’s founding member Dave.

I write this piece with hope and absolute conviction that, as a space, we are building more than just the future of finance, but the future of society itself.

Now, if you are reading this, you are probably human, and if you are not, I appreciate your attention anyway!

So, assuming your humanity, you may have noticed some differences between your interactions within Web3 and those that occur in your everyday life, and realized that Web3 is a very strange beast indeed.

Our space represents a shining paragon of freedom, liberty, and sovereignty for humanity - the future of inclusive finance and governance alike - while simultaneously encompassing some of the worst extremes of what we are capable of as a species.

Unfortunately, those extremes - greed, fear, jealousy, and rage (among others) find strong support in the foundations of the purely wealth-based ecosystems that make up Web3. These damaging aspects of ourselves often become further amplified in our communities through the lens of anonymity, and the general lack of human empathy present in so many digital spaces.

So what can we do? How do we even begin to strengthen the more positive aspects of human nature in our space, when that space is underpinned by such toxic finance-based power structures and incentives?

The Web3 space evolved exponentially in its early years, and in my humble opinion, has succeeded in paving the way toward the greatest, most unchained, and inclusive financial system ever devised... But what of its soul? How can we bring the human elements of community, family, and empathy toward our peers; to a space so dominated by the capitalist nature of our time?

Like the beginnings of any evolutionary process - we start with baby steps.

As creators, builders, and thought-leaders within this nascent space, we must begin to take a 'social-first' mindset; one in which we consider community as a foundational pillar of what we build.

In our machinations and implementations, our technical genius, and the formation of our glorious goals - we must consider that oldest, and truest axiom: Family-first.

By fostering a family - one composed of wildly talented and unique human individuals - we gain a foundation of support and willpower that will never fail. An incentivized, self-supporting, and fully-aligned group of innovators that can achieve any goal and surpass any expectation.
