The Power of Twitter Spaces.

People connect in so many different ways nowadays. It’s so hard even to keep track of all the platforms and features that allow us to communicate with each other. Despite all the options it’s increasingly harder to really get to know someone even when you’ve ‘’connected’’ on social media.

There’s a special one though… Twitter Spaces.

You hear everyone saying that your net worth is your network. But how do you build one in web3 and what is it that’s so special about Twitter Spaces?

Well, you’re on Twitter I guess. If you’re not, you should be. Like any other social media platform, you post your own stuff, you reply to other people’s posts, you send some DMs (not Twitter’s best suit) and you create your own little bubble. You grow and you expand your network looking for that ‘’follow/follow back ratio’’.

So if I’m following you does that mean that we’re connected? Ofc not. If you spend enough time on Twitter you know who you’re closest accounts are. You know that most people who follow you won’t interact with your content. The different levels of connection you have with other people on social media come from the frequency of interactions.

There’s a real connection to be made by constantly getting involved with content creators (influencers) on Twitter but you have to contribute not only reply. Meaning that you need to be seeking a convo whenever you reply to a post. So there are the people that follow you and don’t interact with you, there are the people who follow you and sometimes interact with you and there is your inner circle or your tribe which interacts with you daily.

Regardless of how much you interact with someone on social media, being able to have a voice conversation on a platform like Twitter, changes everything. It allow for real-time genuine interaction to happen at scale. There are tens of thousands of people tuning into spaces and up to 10 speakers per stage. For web3 this is massive. It’s everything right now.

When you combine all the constant interactions you can have with someone on Twitter with the possibility of being in a public voice room and having your PFP ‘’do the talking’’ it creates a perfect storm which is the reason why Twitter is undeniably the main social media platform for web3.

It doesn’t matter where you’re from, it doesn’t matter what you’re interested in, there will always be a room of people that will talk about something you wanna hear. And it’s a game-changer for how news and interviews will be conducted in the future. Just take a look at Elon’s last couple of interviews and how he always broadcasts live on spaces. It’s normal for the consumer to want unfiltered, ad-free content over the traditional media approach.

Now that we went over the way Twitter Spaces can change media as we know it, let’s look at how it helps you get to know the people you connect with.

I host the Cre8ors Talk Show for more than 8 months now and I have spent over a thousand hours on Twitter Spaces talking with web3 folks. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting amazing human beings and I’ve learned a lot from their stories and experiences. But there are some that through consistently being here, became my friends. And then a fraction of us met IRL and I’ve witnessed the power Twitter Spaces had over us as a group.

Let me be clear: “I have very good social skills I just don’t like putting them in practice.” But this was on a different level. I felt like I knew everyone that shared a Twitter Spaces stage with me, better than I know myself. I see these people all the time on the timeline and I interact with them. I speak with them almost daily. We have a better connection than I have with most of my IRL friends. I feel this is important to share because for me it’s a whole new different way of creating a social circle. And I’m sure the newer generations will find it more natural to create their social circles without the boundaries of the city you live in. Maybe this is the Metaverse we kept talking about…

I believe that as Twitter will aim to replace most other social media platforms, its Spaces feature will become more and more important. I’m betting on it and I want everyone who feels the same to join the cre8ors talk-show. We’re building a next-level media brand here and this is the ground floor.
